Karen Schmalz

Karen has been a School Counselor for the past 10 years in a competitive Long Island school district in Suffolk County in the middle school and high school. She is also an adjunct Admissions Counselor at Suffolk Community College during the summer. Prior to this, she has worked as a high school counselor at Eastern Suffolk B.O.C.E.S. as well as a counselor at an adolescent group home for teenage girls. In addition, Karen has worked as an Instructional Specialist for adults with disabilities at A.C.L.D. and coached high school and middle school track & field and cross country.
Karen earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Stony Brook and a Master's degree in School Counseling from Long Island University. In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, running, traveling, and reading mystery novels.

Jeanmarie Wilson

Jeanmarie has been a School Counselor at the high school level for 23
years. She has worked in a leading Suffolk County school district since
1999. Prior to this, Jeanmarie was employed in a Nassau County public
school district and a private high school in NYC. In addition, she has
worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor and a Career Counselor. Jeanmarie has recently written a book called Parenting From Your Soul: A Spiritual Approach to Raising Children with Compassion and Wisdom.
Jeanmarie earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortland and a Master's degree in School Counseling from Long Island University. She has experienced the college process from the perspective of a parent as well. In her free time, Jeanmarie enjoys taking long walks with her dogs, spending time at the beach, cooking healthy foods, practicing yoga and spending time with her family and friends.
